Information on Indian produced Astra Zeneca Vaccine

Some of you may have heard about possible problems with international travel and certain batches of Astra Zeneca vaccines. We want to reassure all patients that people who have received vaccinations from batches manufactured in India, have had exactly the same vaccine as people who received the batches made elsewhere. Please do not think that you are less protected – this is not the case.

With regards to travel, we have had re-assurance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) – to reassure people that “an administrative hurdle” will be “straightened out in due courseā€.

You can check whether your vaccination was an Indian Astra Zeneca vaccine by either:

  • looking at your vaccination card for batch number 4120Z003 which we used between March 16th and 18th 2021
  • or by looking on your NHS App for your vaccination information, where the batch numbers are also recorded

It has been reported that nine European countries – Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Estonia and Switzerland – will accept the India-made version of the AstraZeneca vaccination. We do not have any more information about foreign travel at present so please keep checking the Government website for more information.
